The American Cancer Society operates the Florida Quitline (see Florida Quitline), which is a statewide telephone-based program that offers counseling, information about quitting, and Nicotine Replacement Therapy assistance. The local chapter also has a database of area resources, in addition to educational materials to assist in quitting.

Freedom From Smoking®, the American Lung Association's nationally known and recognized program, is considered the gold standard for smoking cessation programs. This free web-based program consists of seven modules that assists the smoker with the quitting process.

Baptist offers the QuitSmart system, which utilizes a multi-component approach to smoking cessation. Participants receive a kit which includes a guidebook for purposes of self-study. An audiotape/CD teaches progressive relaxation while participants learn to become a calm, comfortable nonsmokers.  Proven coping techniques, relapse prevention and recovery strategies from trained health professionals are all taught to help assist in making the change. Social support is enlisted from family, friends, and co-workers.

EX is a free plan that will help you stop smoking. It’s not about why to quit. EX is all about HOW to quit. The plan was created by medical experts and tested by real smokers (ex-smokers). The website includes many interactive tools to help re-learn how to live life without cigarettes. Each section of the website includes useful information and a workbook. EX is tailored to help users with tools to set quit dates and provide ongoing education and motivation. The EX community also offers support from others trying to quit and ex-smokers. The Florida Quitline offers toll-free telephone-based tobacco cessation counseling at no cost. Anyone living in Florida who is ready to make an attempt to quit can use the Quitline. The Quitline offers counseling sessions, self-help materials, and Nicotine Replacement Therapy assistance. TDD services are also offered for the hearing impaired.

This program offers individualized treatment plans created by a psychologist to fit your needs. The initial visit consists of a nicotine dependency consultation, and sessions following this depend on the treatment plan created.  Prices range from $158-263 per session.

This program is offered to all active duty members and eligible beneficiaries. The program offers an initial one hour session focusing on the effects of nicotine addiction and emphasizes behavior modification and stress management. Weekly follow up sessions are then scheduled to address nutrition management, weight management, and relapse prevention. Nicotine Replacement Therapy assistance is also available.

Nicotine Anonymous is a non-profit 12-step fellowship of men and women helping each other live nicotine-free lives. NA welcomes all those seeking freedom from nicotine addiction, including those using cessation programs and nicotine withdrawal aids. The primary purpose of Nicotine Anonymous is to help those who would like to cease using tobacco and nicotine products in any form. The group offers support and recovery using the 12 Steps as adapted from Alcoholics Anonymous to achieve abstinence from nicotine. Telephone and internet meetings are also available. Quitnet is an online cessation network where smokers help smokers quit. Many tools are available on this site, from a quitting calendar to a quit date wizard. The site offers 24-7 support from others trying to quit, and those that have successfully kicked the habit. A directory of local support programs helps tailor the site to individual needs.

St. Vincent’s Medical Center

St. Vincent’s uses the Quitsmart System to help tobacco users break the habit. Individual and group sessions are available. The program consists of three sessions, lasting for about an hour each. Classes are held the second Tuesday of the month at 2 p. m., but appointments at other times can be made. The cost is $75 for the entire program.
